What is a hotspot? A hotspot is an area that has Cambria Connected Wireless Coverage. You're able to use the Cambria Connected Wireless in "hot" areas.
What do I need for Wireless access? You'll need a computer with a wireless card that is 802.11x compatible. Basically, any laptop with built-in wireless is compatible. If you need a wireless card, feel free to give us a call, and we can help you obtain the right hardware to be able to access the wireless network.
What if I have more than one computer? If you have more than one computer, then you'll need an Internet account for each computer. BUT, if you setup a wireless network in your house, you'll be able to share one account, saving you a significant amount of money. The hardware you need to setup a wireless network in your house is on our Hardware page (Linksys Network Device).
Where will my CamConn Wireless work? Please view the map on the homepage for locations with the wireless equipment. The signal will be transmitted from those locations, and can cover anywhere from 1000+ feet, depending upon the obstacles. Please note that the map is only an estimate.
If I'm in a Hotspot, how do I connect? On your computer, if you are in range of CamConn WiFi, you'll see a wireless network called Cambria Connected. For the time being, you can utilize this Internet connection for FREE! We've heard from residents that can successfully access the WiFi system, but does not work everywhere in their house (eg. laptop in living room, bedroom, den, porch, etc). Please see the Hardware page for devices you can purchase to extend the wireless signal to cover your residence (Linksys Network Device).
Wireless Hardware: Most laptops made in the past five years have WiFi built-in, and even some desktops now have WiFi built-in as well. The USB adapter on our Hardware page is a perfect example of the type of device you would need for a desktop computer, or a computer without wireless networking capabilities.
